Bollywood box-office report of the week

The much awaited clash between Ajay Devgn's SON OF SARDAAR and Shah Rukh Khan's JAB TAK HAI JAAN went the expected and predicted way! Both the films embarked on a good start with SON OF SARDAAR leading in Bihar, Rajasthan, CP Berar and East Punjab and JAB TAK HAI JAAN dominating Mumbai circuit, Delhi-UP, Mysore, West Bengal, Hyderabad-Nizam and TNK. After three days, SON OF SARDAAR has netted 35-36 crore and JAB TAK HAI JAAN 47-48 crore from India. What must be kept in mind is the fact SOS has a total cost of 80-85 crore (all inclusive) and JTHJ 60 crore (all inclusive, sans SRK's fee), and so both the films have to last more than the extended 6-day weekend, to be declared a hit. In the overseas JAB TAK HAI JAAN is the clear winner, having grossed $ 3.50m in just three days (having released in some markets on the third day!), and is expected to reset many old records.
