Movie review talaash unpredictable thrilling

Aamir Khan never ceases to surprise viewers.In Talaash he does so quite literally. The succinctly written, complex screenplay, smoothly interlays between the police investigation and personal emotional turmoil of the characters make Talaash a nail biting thriller.The plot about a police officer Surjan Singh Shekhawat Aamir Khan investigating a high profile case of film star Armaan Kapoor accidental death keeps you riveted. Alongside the main plot, one gathers that Shekhawat and his wife Roshni Rani Mukerji have lost their eight year old son Karan in a freak accident in a lake for which Shekhawat blames himself and lives in guilt.His investigations constantly lead him to Kareena Kapoor a prostitute with a good heart who acts as the ace informer for Shekhawat. Kareena as Rosy has shades of her earlier Chameli although she makes a conscious effort to be different. She is effective and convincing, touching your heart with the innate goodness of her character in spite of her circumstances.The mystery shrouding the case, unravels gradually in a carefully written tight script with no loopholes. The film is entirely unpredictable not conforming to the usual approach to thrillers in Bollywood. This one is clearly different and keeps you guessing till the very end.The climax brings you to the edge of your seat but leaves you satiated. As the case unfolds, you get your answers from the characters on celluloid. But clearly Reema Kagti and Zoya Akhtar, the scriptwriter duo give you much more than just that. They take you through a complete self-exploratory journey and bring you back replete with answers. Farhan Akhtar dialogues in colloquial parlance are witty and unleash several underlying messages.Ram Sampath gives an apt background score in keeping with the flavour of the film and if anything only enhances the viewer's experience. Music in the film otherwise is nothing to write home about but you're definitely not complaining. The plot and performances leave no room for frivolities.Rani Mukerji in her de-glam avatar is true to her character as the distraught mother. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as Taimur the lame Man Friday in the brothel doing odd jobs, excels in a superbly written role. Realistic performances and get ups of all the characters, add to the ingenuity of the plot.The cinematography though simple, captures the essence of Mumbai. The locales of the city are wonderfully depicted, making those a character in the film, rather than a mere backdrop.Devoid of the usual Bollywood masala and gimmicks, this one is a pure treat. Aamir Khan's fans apart Talaash has the power to grip all cine-goers.

Forests and Villages are turned into barren lands making the lives of dwellers horrible. In Hyderabad lives B.Tech Babu Rana working in his grandfather Subramanyam Kota Surabhi Drama Company. While B. Tech Babu wanted to fly USA, Subramanyam's last wish is to see his grandson playing 'Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum' drama in Bellary Natakotsavam. So, the entire drama troop arrives in Bellary. In parallel documentary film maker Devika Nayanathara is also in Bellary to cover a story on dark secrets behind mining mafia of Reddappa. In the mean time, B. Tech Babu's troop also faces inhuman treatment in the villainy of Reddappa. How and when will B. Tech Babu know about a flashback linked with his maternal uncle Chakravarthi Milind Gunaji who is using the identity as Reddappa Murali Sharma How did he finish the entire mining mafia in Bellary mixed with revenge saga is the rest.Values of the Movie KVJ The core value of Krishnam Vande Jagdgurum lies in Rana and the ability to present himself as a strong Mass Action Hero. Strictly speaking, Krish's puzzled screenplay was the barrier to build the required emotion for a commercial flick. Even his direction slipped away in crucial episodes. However dialogues wise there were enough to pinpoint on the intellectual sense of Krish which will blow away audience in instant claps. Gnanasekhar cinematograophy was also just an average work. Editing by Sravan could also have been better in connecting the loose ends. Music by Mani Sharma was superb for backgound in climax and two to three songs were well composed. Production values of First Frame Entertainment are above average.Performance wise we are to see a new action shade in Rana. He was equally awesome in spelling emotional dialogues and executing hardcore stunts. This is an all round show from young hero. Especially, the drama scenes in beginning of the movie have come out well and refreshing. Nayanathara is given a lengthy role and her significance is confined. Milind Gunaji was a weak antagonist. Kota was brief keeping the Rana's character to set on fire. Raghu Babu was excellent while Satyam Rajesh, Hema were good. Murali Sharma comes late in second half. Posani character was well weaved. Brahmi character as Ram-Pam was a speed breaker and mis-fit to the script of Krish. Cameos of Venkatesh and Sameera Reddy in Bellary Baava song were good.Out of the Movie KVJ The basic element Krish missed in cooking this commercial mass movie is carrying the emotion and connectivity. Till the point where Raghu Babu's tongue is cut and sacred ashes of Kota are besmirched with urine, emotion goes on to reach the peak. Then on, Krish ran into a bundle of blunders killing the drama step by step. Interval bang which was supposed to be a twist to the story went pale and lifeless. It took long time before injecting the philosophy of Nayan into Rana's character.There is alot of difference between narrating a revenge drama and implanting a social message. Krish experimented to interwind two unequal concepts and then tried to bring a unique theme. However, his normalization process went wrong leading to an unbalanced drama. By the time we start sinking into the barbaric practices of mining mafia, thud comes Rana's revenge which lacks in conviction. This is what happens when a sapient like Krish begins to transform into business concerning attitude. He was neither able to justify his thoughful psychology nor the irrational mass masala ingredient.Commercially the run of KVJ lies only on how audience receive the actual mining concept and simultaneously digest the avengment drama. DreamWorks animation stock drops dfter weak rise of the guardians opening

The stock of DreamWorks Animation sunk 5 percent on Monday, much closer to its 52-week low than its high after the disappointing opening weekend for its latest release, Rise of the Guardians.By the end of trading on Monday, DWA stock had fallen 94 cents to $17.11, giving the company a market value of $1.44 billion.In the past year the stock has traded from $16.35, a 52 week low set in January, and $22.98 a level reached this month.Rise of the Guardians garnered just a $32.6 million debut well shy of several estimates. Janney Montgomery Scott analyst Tony Wible for example, predicted $55 million and the Hollywood Stock Exchange predicted $64.5 million.In a note to clients Monday Wible called the film's performance one of the most disappointing releases in the company's history  especially in light of the long weekend, record breaking U.S.box office gross over the weekend, the holiday focused plot and lack of competition.Wible added While we believe the film will have a longer-than-average tail near-term numbers need to drastically come down and the stock will face worse than typical post release pressure.The analyst reduced his fair value estimate on the stock from $24.50 to $22 but maintained his buy rating. This could create a good buying opportunity, Wible wrote, as we still see a forthcoming inflection in earnings power that is not tied to this film, but rather a string of new unrelated growth opportunities  News Corp. distribution deal, Netflix savings, Classic Media TV network and China.Susquehanna analyst Vasily Karasyov warned that Guardians is on pace to hit $95 million domestically, which would mark only the third time since 2001 DWA made a film that did not cross the $100 million threshold, the other two being Flushed Away and Wallace and Gromit The Curse of the Were Rabbit.We will now be watching international performance, which can pull the title out of the write-down territory, Karasyov wrote in a research note Monday. For example, he highlighted that In Russia the biggest market so far it generated $5.85 million during opening weekend, while Puss in Boots grossed $14.88 million, How to Train Your Dragon $7.28 million, and Megamind $6.94 million.If international box office comes in as low as U.S. results compared with expectations we believe the movie could move from the $39 million profit estimate now in our DWA model to a $15 million loss, Crockett said.

DABANGG 2 is all set for release in less than a month from now and it is hardly surprising that as a character Chulbul Pandey doesn't quite need any introduction since it has already been established amongst audience in a big way for last couple of years. One is tempted to ask producer director Arbaaz Khan that as a team which is basically taking the legend forward was it about sticking to the basics for what had already worked in a major way Or was there any endeavor to bring in some newer traits as well
We are true to that character. Period. However what I can say is that Salman Khan won't look like someone who was seen in READY, BODYGUARD or EK THA TIGER. In DABANGG 2 he is Chulbul Pandey and that's the way things are going to be. Yes, from setting perspective it is a new scenario which means a new approach has to be drafted towards presenting Chulbul in this situation. Now that by itself is challenging because you have to keep the sanctity of the character right and still not give to audience what may seem like a repeat of what they have already seen details Arbaaz. He goes on to promise that DABANGG 2 would live up to its title and have everything that goes with larger than life image of Salman Khan.

Zanjeer release in legal troubles

The highly anticipated flick which happens to be the debut of Ramcharan in Bollywood is zanjeer the remake to 1973 blockbuster of Amitabh Bachchan with same name. This movie is produced by Amit Mehra, one among the three sons of Late Prakash Mehra who was the actual man behind old zanjeer. As remake rights are combinely held by three brothers, Amit brought it from both the brothers Sumeet who stays in the US and Puneet who stays in Mumbai but failed to pay the promised amount leading to termination of remake contract. When Sumeet and Puneet terminated the contract, Amit approached the Bombay High Court. As per the Court order Amit can shoot the film but cannot release until the dues are cleared. Amit clarified that he will soon pay the debts of his brothers and will release zanjeer on time.

Akkineni's triple treat titled

King Nagarjuna earlier got impressed with Vikram Kumar who attracted all with Ishq, presented him with the golden opportunity of directing their three generations. Life of Pi review

LIFE OF PI is about an Indian young man who survives a shipwreck disaster along with a tiger and is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure of 227 days, crosses the Pacific in a life boat. This film is an adaptation of Yann Martel's best seller turned into a great movie event by Oscar winning Ang Lee. Life of Pi is a visually compelling film which bring out deep emotions of Piscne Patel (Pi), played great by Suraj Sharma and Irfan Khan in two age levels, and there is a good chance of people crying while watching this emotional roller coaster ride.Pi is an exciting character who loves God and embraces Hinduism, Chrisitinam and Islam, who never feared to do exciting things in life, and who applies his natural instincts when the ship carrying him and his family from India to canada, along with the collection of Zoo animals, sank in pacific. He is the only surveying human in a life boat along with a zebra which got hurt badly, an orangutan, a hyena, and a bengal tiger names Richard Parker. As the vents turn it is only Pi and Richard Parker (named as a result of clerical error) in the life boat., one animal and one thinking animal who believes in good and God.Suraj Sharma as the young Pi gives a great performance through his emotional core, and so does Irfan patan as the older Pi Patel. Tabu and Adil Hussain played the parents of young Pi. Though tabu has a very brief role in the film she gave a great authenticity for the character, especially when she narrates the little Krishna yahoda story to Pi when he is a kid.The film is rich in symbolic meaning and story shows the transformative power of dramatic events in life. The photography and special effects are wonderful. The tiger in many places have great facial expressions and you at times believe that this is a good tiger-actor. The visuals in the carnivorous island are treat to watch and the hallucinations of Pi are extraordinary to watch. Though the film can be a little crisp, you will not complain it by the end of the movie. Ang Lee's directoral efforts are matchless and makes him as one of the greatest in the contemporary film makers. Though this film has all the magic, it never leaves the focus from the subtext of the original book.I have read the book earlier, but watching Ang Lee's marvel in 3D provided me once in a life time experience. I am not a fan of watching movies wearing 3D glasses, but 'Life of Pi' is one film which is made for that medium and some of the scenes of Pi and Tiger are amazing in 3D.

Aamir Khan who didn't know swimming at all, has finally learned swimming for his upcoming suspense drama film Talaash  The answer lies within. That's not it he even had to learn underwater swimming, which is more difficult than regular swimming. Aamir who plays inspector Shekhawat will be seen doing a shot of an underwater sequence. This sequence required Aamir Khan to do the underwater swimming that was shot extensively in London. Undoubtedly, swimming is something that takes a lot of time, it requires hardcore practice and dedication towards leaning something completely new. Director Reema Kagti, who was present during Aamir's training, was quite impressed. I really have to tell I'm very impressed with his swimming she said. In fact the entire crew was surprised to see that Aamir had picked up swimming so soon. Aamir Khan's trainer David helped him throughout the learning process. Akshay Kumar's Grazing Goat Pictures ventures into regional cinema

After taking the nation by a storm with their first production OMG OH MY GOD!, Grazing Goat Pictures' co-producers Akshay Kumar and Ashvini Yardi have forayed into regional cinema with a Marathi film called 72 MILES - EK PRAVAS which is based on Ashok Vatkar's autobiography.  When quizzed about it, Akshay recalls his Marathi connect and Akshay says, "During a bus journey, the conductor told me to move ahead in Marathi, a language I didn't know at the time. I stood there and it annoyed him. That's when I decided to learn the language. I think it's very important to know the language of the place you consider home." Adds Ashvini, "I always wanted to make a good Marathi film for my grandfather who was one of V Shantaram's partners in Prabhat Film Company in the 1920s and my father."  Besides this, there's also a plan to make a sequel to OMG OH MY GOD! starring Paresh Rawal.  On making a sequel to OMG OH MY GOD! Akshay says, "We had a wonderful time making the film and would like to take our association further. Kanjibhai as a character has become iconic and there is more scope to get him to fight more issues."
When asked whether he is also planning a film in his mother tongue Punjabi, the actor-producer adds, "Yes, we are. While the first Marathi film is nearing completion, the Punjabi film is still being scripted. So you'll hear about it in good time too. We will soon be getting into Bengali and south markets as well." After hitting the bull's eye with OMG OH MY GOD! we are sure Grazing Goat Pictures will recreate history with their second venture.

Late legendary filmmaker Yash Chopra's Shahrukh Khan-Katrina Kaif-Anushka Sharma starrer JAB TAK HAI JAAN opened worldwide on Diwali, 13th November 2012, to a tremendous response at the box office and has set several collection landmarks ever since. The romantic saga, which released alongside SON OF SARDAAR, has collected 122 cr worldwide in 6 days and still setting the cash registers ringing in.

The all India nett box office collection sums upto Rs. 80.73 Cr. The Daywise collection is as follows:

Emraan Hashmi Nothing really happening with Bhatts

While Emraan Hashmi is working with Karan Johar in a couple of productions, is in the middle of completing an Ekta Kapoor film and has also signed a film with Oscar-winning director Danis Tanovic of NO MAN'S LAND fame, one wonders whether there is any new movie in the pipeline with his mentors, Bhatts.

"To be honest, there is nothing really happening with Bhatts. None of us is in a hurry to come together for a film so soon. They are busy with so many other productions of theirs while I too have 4-5 other films lined up. We will come together when there is a script in place,'' says Emraan.

While his next release would be EK THI DAAYAN, which releases in April next year, he is also waiting for GHANCHAKKAR to reach the finishing line and is excited about the film which would be his second release in 2013.

"The film is a very unique combination as there is comedy, suspense as well as thrills. It is great to be reuniting with Vidya (Balan) after THE DIRTY PICTURE. It was back to being with someone who is familiar to you,'' he smiles before signing off.
