Performance of Anushka as Maheshwari in damarukam is compared to the title role of Arundhathi. Many who heard this from director Srinivas Reddy are shocked to question on how can a weak characterization in damarukam come near to the strength of Arundhathi. Although Anushka plays central character no where Srinivas Reddy used her acting prowess except the show of glamor in songs.This is what Srinivas Reddy actually said. All the characters of Nagarjuna as Malli Ravi Shankar as Andakasura and Prakashraj as Lord Shiva revolve only around the central role of Maheshwari done by Anushka. So, audience are pouring compliments on her for the beautiful looks and a better performance than Arundhathi. So this will be one more memorable film in her career.
