The year 2012 has been exceptionally good for the trade as box office has churned up a number of hits super hits and all time blockbusters.The two most important festivals, Eid-ul-Fitr and Diwali which are considered to be the best time to release films as far as box office returns are concerned have proved to be jackpots for the films which released on these particular occasions.The first was Salman Khan Independence Day cum Eid release EK THA TIGER which turned out to be an all time blockbuster netting almost 200 crore from India alone and thus becoming only the second film after 3 IDIOTS to cross the 200 crore mark.Therefore this year Eid was the best ever for Bollywood.The same followed with Diwali.The two releases Shahrukh Khan JAB TAK HAI JAAN and Ajay Devgn SON OF SARDAAR took grand openings despite Laxmi Pooja. Normally films which release on the first day of Diwali do not take a very good opening due to Laxmi Pooja but this year was extraordinary as it proved to be the best ever Diwali for Bollywood with both the releases raking in the moolah, in excess of 200 crore between them just from India.
